Различия американского и британского вариантов английского языка в употреблении предлоговРазличия между двумя вариантами английского языка в области употребления предлогов незначительны. В частности, можно выделить следующие частные случаи1) В обоих вариантах английского языка прилагательное different - отличный управляет предлогом from. Кроме того, в британском варианте может использоваться предлог to, а в американском - союз thanThose children are absolutely no different from / to (брит.) / than (амер.) the other children in that district — Те дети совершенно ничем не отличаются от прочих детей в этом районе
2) В американском варианте английского языка значение "сделать что-л. еще раз" может выражаться глаголом do с частицей over (в обоих вариантах это же значение можно передать, используя наречие again)Let's do the concert over (амер.) / again, it was such a success! — Давайте повторим концерт, он прошел с таким успехом!
3) В британском варианте косвенное дополнение (адресат) при глаголе write — писать, если за ним не следует прямое дополнение, как правило, имеет при себе прелог to, в американском варианте этот предлог часто опускаетсяI'll write to you (брит.) / I'll write you (амер.) — Я тебе напишу
4) В американском варианте английского языка при указании улицы как места нахождения, проживания и т.д. употребляется предлог on, в британском варианте - inThe place is a large, dainty bedroom in the Connage house on Sixty-eighth Street, New York (F.S. Fitzgerald) — Место действия - большая, изысканно оформленная спальная комната в доме Коннэдж на Шестьдесят восьмой улице в Нью-Йорке.
Bob Sawyer had himself purchased the spirits at a wine vaults in High Street, and had returned home preceding the bearer thereof, to preclude the possibility of their delivery at the wrong house (Ch. 5) В американском варианте английского языка предлог through может использоваться в выражениях, указывающих на временной интервал, в значении "до... включительно". Нейтральным способом выражения данного смысла является употребление предлога to и слова inclusive.Monday through Friday (амер.) / Monday to Friday inclusive — с понедельника по пятницу включительно.
